Quick answer: for any El Nido itinerary, five days is the right length. Three is the realistic minimum and leaves no room for weather. Five gives you three tour days with a spare, which matters because island-hopping routes get cancelled. Seven lets you add Nacpan Beach and a slower arrival. Ten or more, and you should be adding Coron rather than more El Nido. The single most important sequencing decision: book Tour C before Tour A, because C is the one weather cancels.

Four things that shape any El Nido itinerary
Before the day-by-day plans, four constraints do most of the work.
1. Getting there eats a day. The Clark to El Nido flight takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, but Clark sits roughly two hours north of Manila by road since all Cebgo and AirSWIFT services moved there in March 2026. Via Puerto Princesa it is seven to eight hours door to door. Either way, arrival day is not a tour day. Full detail in our transport guide.
2. You cannot do two tours in one day. Each route runs roughly seven to eight hours including pickup and return. The old combination tours are no longer offered on shared boats.
3. Tour C cancels more than Tour A. C visits more exposed water, so it is the first to go when conditions turn. A almost always runs. This is why the sequencing below always puts C first.
4. Fees are front-loaded. You pay a one-off Eco-Tourism Development Fee, most 2026 sources putting it at PHP 400, valid ten days and covering every route. Tour A adds roughly PHP 200 for Big Lagoon entry and PHP 150 for kayak hire. After day one, extra tour days carry no further fees.
3 days in El Nido
Tight, but workable if you accept the risk.

The risk: if day 2 is cancelled you compress both tours into day 3, which is impossible, so you lose one entirely. Three days works when the weather cooperates and fails when it does not. If your dates are in the wet season, do not attempt El Nido in three days.
5 days in El Nido
This is the itinerary we would actually recommend.

Why this works: three tour days with one genuinely spare. You can lose a day to weather and still see everything you came for. That single piece of slack is the difference between a trip that works and one that does not.
7 days in El Nido
At a week you stop rushing and start actually being somewhere.

10 days: adding Coron
Past about seven days, more El Nido has diminishing returns. The better use of the time is the fast ferry to Coron.

Direction matters. El Nido first, then Coron, works better than the reverse for most people: the ferry runs in the calmer morning half of the day and Coron has the wider choice of onward flights. Read how the two compare before deciding how to split the time.

El Nido itinerary mistakes to avoid
- Coron itinerary — 3, 4, 5 and 7 days planned out, including a diver version.

- Booking Tour A first. The instinct is to lead with the famous one. Do the opposite: A almost always runs, C does not, so C needs the spare days behind it.
- Treating arrival day as a tour day. It is not, on any route in.
- Stacking a same-day onward flight after the Coron ferry. Crossings are cancelled for rough seas with little notice.
- Three days in the wet season. July to September you should assume you will lose a boat day.
- Booking every tour before arriving. Book day one in advance in peak season, then book the rest in town once you can see the forecast.
- Skipping the kayak at Big Lagoon. Motorised boats cannot enter, so without a kayak you see the entrance and not the lagoon.
