Quick answer: the right Coron itinerary for most people is four days. Three works if nothing goes wrong. Four gives you the lakes, the beaches and a spare day, which matters because the far-island tour is the first thing cancelled when the sea is up. Divers should plan five, and must leave a full non-diving day before flying. The sequencing rule that matters most: do the Ultimate tour on your first full day, because it is the one you would most regret missing.

Five things that shape any Coron itinerary
1. Arrival day is not a tour day. Busuanga Airport operates in daylight only, roughly 06:00 to 17:00, and it is about 23 kilometres from town, a 25 to 45 minute transfer. Coming by ferry from El Nido takes 3.5 to 4 hours. Either way you land with half a day at best.
2. Bring cash for the arrival fee. Coron charges a PHP 200 environmental fee for adults, PHP 150 for minors, collected on arrival at the airport. It is cash only and there is no ATM there. Details in our guide to getting to Coron.
3. One tour per day, no exceptions. Boats leave between 08:00 and 09:00 after a 07:30 pickup and return between 16:00 and 17:00. You cannot stack two.
4. The Island Escapade cancels first. The southern islands are roughly 90 minutes out across exposed water, so that route is the earliest casualty when conditions turn. Never make it your only spare-day plan.
5. Fees are charged per stop. Unlike El Nido’s single ten-day pass, Coron collects PHP 100 to 300 at each site. A five or six stop day carries roughly PHP 1,000 to 1,100 in entrance fees, usually already inside a joiner tour price.
3 days in Coron
The minimum. Workable, with no margin.
| Day | Plan |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive, transfer into town, pay the environmental fee. Book tours in person for the next two days. Climb Mount Tapyas for sunset if you have the energy, then Maquinit Hot Springs after dark. |
| Day 2 | Ultimate or Super Ultimate tour — Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon, Barracuda Lake, a wreck and a beach. The reason you came. |
| Day 3 | Island Escapade for the southern beaches, or Reef and Wrecks if the sea looks unsettled. Fly out the next morning. |
The risk: lose day 3 to weather and you leave having done one tour. In the wet season, do not attempt Coron in three days.

4 days in Coron
This is the itinerary we would actually recommend for non-divers.
| Day | Plan |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive and settle in. Book tours, pay the fee, walk the town. Mount Tapyas at sunset, Maquinit Hot Springs afterwards (PHP 200, open until 20:00). |
| Day 2 | Ultimate or Super Ultimate tour. Go on day two while you still have spare days behind you. Ask your operator about an early departure to reach Kayangan Lake before the fleet. |
| Day 3 | Island Escapade — Malcapuya, Bulog Dos and Ditaytayan. The best sand in the region and far fewer boats. |
| Day 4 | Reef and Wrecks, or your spare day if either tour was cancelled. Lusong Gunboat breaks the surface at low tide and is genuinely good snorkelling. |
Why four rather than three: the Escapade route is the one weather takes away, and four days means losing it costs you a swap rather than a third of the trip.
5 days for divers
If you dive, Coron is the point of Palawan and the itinerary changes shape.
| Day | Plan |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Arrive. Nothing scheduled. Visit a dive shop, show your logbook, book your days. |
| Day 2 | First dive day — typically a three-dive trip on the shallower wrecks. The Okikawa Maru and Morazan have real structure inside Open Water limits. |
| Day 3 | Second dive day, going deeper if you are Advanced. Add Barracuda Lake for the thermocline if it appeals. |
| Day 4 | Ultimate tour above the surface, so you see Kayangan and Twin Lagoon. Also serves as the start of your surface interval. |
| Day 5 | Non-diving day. Town, Mount Tapyas, Maquinit. Fly out the following morning. |
That last day is not optional. Leave at least 18 hours after repetitive or multi-day diving before flying. It matters more in Coron than most places, because the profiles are deep and repetitive and your flight out is a limited turboprop service to Clark or Cebu. There is no easy same-day alternative if you cut it fine.

7 days: Coron and El Nido
Seven days is enough for both hubs if you accept a lighter Coron.
| Days | Plan |
|---|---|
| 1 to 3 | El Nido. Tour C on day two, Tour A on day three. |
| 4 | Morning ferry to Coron, 3.5 to 4 hours. Arrive early afternoon. Nothing else scheduled. |
| 5 | Ultimate or Super Ultimate tour. |
| 6 | Island Escapade, or a dive day. |
| 7 | Spare day, then fly out of Busuanga. |
Ten days is the comfortable version: five in El Nido, four in Coron, one for the ferry. Our comparison guide covers how to split the time, and the El Nido itinerary has the day-by-day for that half.
What each itinerary costs
Tours and site fees only. Accommodation, food and flights sit on top.
| Itinerary | Tours and fees |
|---|---|
| 3 days, 2 tours | Around PHP 3,000 to 4,200 |
| 4 days, 3 tours | Around PHP 4,500 to 6,200 |
| 5 days, 2 dive days + 1 tour | Around PHP 12,500 to 15,500 |
Joiner tours run PHP 1,200 to 2,200 depending on route and operator, usually including lunch and site fees. Three-dive day trips run PHP 5,500 to 6,900 including boat, guide, lunch and generally gear. Add the one-off PHP 200 environmental fee on arrival. See our Philippines travel budget guide for accommodation and food.
Mistakes to avoid
- Booking the Escapade as your only spare-day option. It is the first tour cancelled in rough water.
- Treating arrival day as a tour day. Daylight-only flights and a 25 to 45 minute transfer make that unrealistic.
- Diving on your last full day. Leave 18 hours before flying, and remember flights out are limited.
- Booking by tour letter. Coron operators do not use a standardised system, so “Tour A” means different things at different agencies. Book by the stop list.
- Arriving without pesos. The environmental fee is cash only and there is no ATM at the airport.
- Expecting a beach in town. Coron Town is a working port. All the sand is a boat ride away.

Insurance worth checking: island hopping and scuba are two of the activities standard policies most often exclude, and diving clauses often cap at 18 or 30 metres. Compare travel insurance quotes on EKTA and read the activity list rather than the headline price.
Frequently asked questions
How many days do you need in Coron?
Four for non-divers: the Ultimate tour, the Island Escapade, and a spare day for weather. Three works only if nothing is cancelled. Divers should plan five, including a full non-diving day before flying.
Is 3 days enough for Coron?
Just, in the dry season. You get two tour days and no margin, so a single cancellation costs you a third of the trip. In the wet season, plan four or more.
Which Coron tour should I do first?
The Ultimate or Super Ultimate, on your first full day. It is the only package combining Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoon and Barracuda Lake, and it is the one you would most regret missing.
Can you do two Coron tours in one day?
No. Each runs roughly seven to nine hours including pickup and return.
How many days for Coron and El Nido together?
Ten is comfortable: five in El Nido, four in Coron, one for the ferry. Seven is possible but leaves Coron light and offers no slack for a cancellation on either side.
When should I stop diving before flying out of Coron?
Leave at least 18 hours after repetitive or multi-day diving, and build in a full non-diving day. Flights from Busuanga are limited daylight-only turboprop services, so there is little flexibility if plans change.
